It seems like BabelCon guests are being confirmed hourly. I've updated
the website Guest page so it includes all the confirmed guests.

At the big meeting on Sunday, just under 15 volunteers were present. All
fan clubs, groups, and track leaders that were there asked questions
about security, programming, shows, merchant room setup, panel room
size, and general logistics. Those in attendance appeared satisfied with
the plan for BabelCon 4.5, so the staff and volunteers are going ahead
    as originally envisioned.

will be doing Trek panels; the team from S.O.U.L. is running the
Paranormal track; Star Wars, Harry Potter, and general Sci-Fi panels
have volunteers working them. Shows, such as Ren Faire, Rocky Horror
(which was absent last year), and the green Orion girls are confirmed.

And finally, the sci-fi "Anime" track will be folded into the new "Animation"
track, expanding its focus to all sci-fi and related animation.

The next meeting is February 28th, 2010, same location (Jones Creek
    Library in Baton Rouge).

Free & Open to the Public: BabelCon and the Star One Delta science fiction club are
holding their annual 4th of July "Sci-Fi BBQ" this Sunday at 10811 Rainier Ave.
(Baton Rouge), in the backyard drive-in movie theater. Kids are welcome (this is a
family-oriented event), as are friends and persons of interest.  It will kick off at 5:00
pm with BBQ and DJ music, and as usual, Star One Delta will provide the
hamburgers & fixings. Everyone else, please bring side dishes and drinks of your
choice!  At 7:00 pm, we will be treated to some films on the giant outdoor "drive-in"
movie screen. All day there will be a mini-casino where you can play poker, make a few bets on roulette or try your luck in the star trek themed slot machine. And yes, there will be Fireworks after dark, so it will be a great party!

BabelCon has an important announcement to make at its upcoming meeting.
Thanks to an infusion of resources, we will be holding a much sooner event than
we originally planned - one that will involve rooms downtown, and hopefully bring in
    a few well known celebrities.
Please join us August 29th, at Jones Creek Library, 6222 Jones Creek Rd.,
Baton Rouge; from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm, to hear the exciting details, and find out
which celebrities are being seriously considered.

Some people have asked if the regular BabelCon is still going to be held in the
spring of 2011, and so far the answer is YES. This could change, but right now its a
go. Also, MEGA-BabelCon's exact November dates are not yet confirmed. All we can
confirm is that the dates are in November. We'll know by next week.

For those that have inquired, I have been using the placeholder name "MEGA-
BabelCon" until the "Fandemonium" name was approved for public usage. From
now on the event will be referred to as Fandemonium.

Posted September 4, 2010
Once detailed plans were being made for Fandemonium 2010, it became clear
that the organizational structure BabelCon was incompatible with LSU contract
requirements and rules. Subsequently, BabelCon has officially withdrawn all
involvement with Fandemonium 2010 and all aspects of the Red Stick
    International Animation Festival.

To plan, promote, and run Fandemonium 2010, two individuals who also happen
to be BabelCon board members have formed a separate business entity. This
new organization, Science Fiction Convention Management Services, LLC
(SFCMS), has no formal or business connection with BabelCon.  SFCMS
welcomes volunteers who would like to assist.  Fandemonium 2010 will retain
BabelCon’s spirit of family fun and eclectic programming.

BabelCon will also continue to provide science education and science fiction
enjoyment to the public as it has successfully done for the past five years.

Please check back here soon for important updates not only for Fandemonium
2010 but also for the next BabelCon!

Now that BabelCon and Fandemonium are officially separate events, we have
started updating this website to reflect BabelCon 2011. All Fandemonium tickets
will be handled through the Animation Festival website. Fandemonium is not yet
sure how Games for Fandemonium will be handled, but be assured if you are a
game master and have already submitted a game, we have a record of it..
